A few years back when I was in Bangkok, my girl friend and I were supposed to head to Jatujak market and found ourselves spending hours on our last day in a cat cafe instead (read article here). On my recent work trip to Bangkok, I made it a point to visit another cat cafe recommended by a relative to check out the scene and oh boy, I can honestly say that I’ve had much better experiences in Bangkok than the one I went to in Shinjuku, Tokyo. The cat cafes in Bangkok have better environments, much brighter and cleaner , more conducive with with less ‘cat scent‘. Instead of charging per hour, they charge according to meal, cat treats and they also sell souvenirs. This time, I went with Caturday Cat Cafe, just about 10-15 minutes walk from Platinum Mall for a change.
There were about 10-15 cats (if I’m not mistaken) during our visit and most of them are adult-sized. There were plenty of toys inside the premise, and you can buy cat food/treats for the cats (best way to lure some to your table). Unlike Purr Cat Cafe Club, you can definitely hold the cats for a polaroid at a tiny cost, of course. Other than that, the usual rules apply – washing hands prior to entering, no shoes, no flash photography and no picking up the cats. The staff were friendly and attentive to your needs and there are more food options than the other cat cafe we went to previously. Don’t forget to grab a souvenir or two before you leave!
