Iceland: Winter Wonders

written by Point8cam July 22, 2014

This travel video is the epilogue of our first Iceland video. Although this was a honeymoon holiday, this amazing place has left a great sense of belonging deep inside us.

Filming in Iceland

Filming in Iceland was a spectacular experience!

Iceland is popularly known for its beautiful landscapes, volcanic structures, unpredictable weather and one of the best places to see the Northern lights, also known as the Aurora Borealis. Driving around the entire island in winter was such a learning experience and challenging for film making. Through these obstacles, it had made us realize how powerful the force of nature is. As much as we say how small the world is, being up close to Iceland’s monumental beauty makes us feel so small.

Iceland brings us closer to being human

We all have our moments to sit and think about life in general. Letting the mind wander in this place however, gave us a chance to look at things with a different perspective. Taking a break from mucking about and filming during the trip, we took our time to enjoy each place we stopped at. It was a moment to sink into the environment, being present at the particular place and time.

C-47 SkyTrain also known as “Dakota” can be found in Sólheimasandur, South Iceland.

Although the chasing thought of, “We better move now before we run out of sunlight”, we took an unconscious decision to just let time pass. We hit the road later than we initially planned, but boy the scenic drive at night is one of a kind. The moonlight lighting up those mountain tops just look so menacing!

Night time in Iceland

The moon lights the night landscapes up in Iceland.

The people we met in Iceland have touched our hearts and we are grateful to learn a thing or two in becoming more human. We thank you Iceland for giving us such an experience, and we hope to visit you once again in Summer where we can enjoy 12 hours of daylight.

We also like to thank Route 1 Car Rental for the vehicle support and their excellent service in making sure our drive in Iceland was a smooth sailing one. We miss those who welcomed our stay.
